EPPING FOREST OUTDOOR GROUP ...meanwhile - in the Forest - Group members are manning the start-point, a tea tent situated half-way round the course, and nine checkpoints. Competitors are expected to work out from a clues-sheet which of three grid-references is the correct one, to get there, and then to find the checkpoint. These are small tents usually deep within the Forest; in a few cases these are dimly lit, but most have no lights. This year the Forest was reasonably dry, it didn't rain, and for November was very mild - about 11c. at 2am. (Photos : Jenny Burden) |
