The Errant Knickers
Laid out on the upstairs windowsill,
Of the Alfriston YHA;
Bright yellow luminous knickers -
Could be seen from the South Downs Way.
Prue’d laid them out after washing them
To dry in the August sun;
Then went off for a walk with the EFOG group -
Not thinking on what she’d done.
For while she was gone, the knickers dried out,
And a cheeky gust of wind,
Blew the knickers down to the garden below –
And that’s where the fun begins.
For the young warden of the hostel,
Saw this somewhat disturbing sight –
A pair of escaped knickers;
Clean, but yellow – and BRIGHT!
So now he’s in a quandary,
Wondering what to do;
Not knowing who the owner was,
Not knowing it was Prue.
So with a deal of trepidation,
He hatches up a plan -
For a pair of fluorescent knickers,
Can upset any man.
When the group returns from the walk that day
There’s a note for all to see;
“Yellow knickers found, in the hostel grounds;
Would the owner report to me”.
So that’s about the end of the story,
It wasn’t part of her laundry plan;
For Prue had to ask for her knickers back –
From a very embarrassed young man
