Welcome to EFOG
The Epping Forest Outdoor Group - often known just as EFOG by its members - was formed for those people who enjoy a range of activities outdoors, but we are happy to do a range of indoor activities, too. The group has been in existence for over 60 years. We don't specialise, but will try nearly anything.
We meet regularly on Thursday evenings in Wanstead - near to Snaresbrook Station - to socialise, maybe with a talk, a quiz, or a variety of other activities, and to plan our weekends.
Our programme includes a wide range of social events, and we try to arrange something for most weekends. Walking and cycling are nowadays our most frequent outdoor activities as well as visits to interesting places. The length of these walks and rides vary from just a few miles to however far members might like to cover, so we cater for a range of abilities. We may walk in the countryside or in towns - wherever our members want to go or whatever they might want to do. We might go camping, hostelling, stay at a B & B or a hotel, or hire self-catering accomodation, either for the weekend or a longer period.
If you would like to see some of the things we have done in the past, have a look at the 'e-blog', on this website, or - if you would like to meet some of us - drop in one Thursday evening between 8.00 pm and 10:00pm. We meet at Rovsco Hall, on the corner of Hollybush Hill and High Street, Wanstead, E11 1PE, which is close to Snaresbrook station and just south of the Toby Carvery on Hollybush Hill (the ex-Eagle pub). Otherwise, you could just join us on one of our walks to see how it goes - look at our 'Programme' to see if any appeal.
