EPPING FOREST OUTDOOR GROUP

In October 2007 a group of EFOG members, plus one or two friends, spent a week at Pitlochry, staying at the excellent Shearings Hotel, the Pitlochry Hydro. Although some travelled by car, and some by train, the majority of us took the bus. A bit of a journey - but then the holiday started at Victoria Coach Station! A mixture of energetic activities such as climbing Ben Vrackie, walking to the Pass of Killiecrankie and at Blair Atholl, a guided tour of the Scottish Plant Hunters Garden, a night visit to an enchanted wood, eating, and swimming in the hotel's pool, was fairly typical of EFOG activities.

Whilst the majority of the Group headed into the mist to attain the summit of Ben Vrackie, Susan and Paul returned to Pitlochry to join a guided tour of the Scottish Plants Hunters gardens. It turned out to be a pesonal tour as, apart from the guide, we were the only ones that attended!

The following day, the Group went on a slightly tamer walk in the estate at Blair Atholl.

In the evening, many of us attended a festival in the streets of Pitlochry with all forms of entertainments, and some of us went on a coach-excursion to the "Enchanted Forest", a sound-and light performance at nearby Loch Faskally.
